Cory Doctorow Cory Doctorow, author

Cory Doctorow is a science fiction author, activist, journalist and blogger — the co-editor of Boing Boing and the author of young adult novels like Homeland, Pirate Cinema, and Little Brother, and novels for adults like Rapture of the Nerds and Makers. He is the former European director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and co-founded the UK Open Rights Group. Born in Toronto, Canada, he now lives in London. MikePerschon Mike Perschon, Steampunk Scholar

Mike Perschon is not only a PhD in steampunk literature but is furthermore a creatively-hyperactive person who has engaged in almost everything: tabletop RPGs, music, art, and writing. He blogs about books and film, mainly steampunk. Right now, he is teaching English at Grant MacEwan university back home in Edmonton, Canada, but sometimes you may catch a glimpse of him wearing his goggles at various conventions and festivals. Miriam Rosenberg Rocek Miriam Rosenberg Rocek, Steampunk Emma Goldman

Miriam Rosenberg Rocek studied creative writing but has also worked as a cook and a sailor on sailing ships. Furthermore, she is known for her commitment to the Occupy movement, and has acted as a revived steampunk version of anarchist and activist Emma Goldman (1869 – 1940). She blogs about activists and occurrences of the 19th and early 20th century. Here can you read our Christmas-interview with Steampunk Emma Goldman.

Chris Wooding Chris Wooding, Author

Chris Wooding got his first contract at the age of 19 and has written a great number of books, but he is presumably best known for his series about the airship Ketty Jay and her crew. He also writes for film and TV, and likes to travel. According to his website, Chris Wooding’s family descends from John Milton, the author of Paradise Lost, which is probably of no practical significance, but it is cool nevertheless. Anders Blixt Anders Blixt, author

Anders Blixt became a Jules Verne fan when reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at the age of seven. He has been a professional writer since his late teens, mostly for role-playing games. A few years ago he published the pre-steampunk fantasy novel Spiran och Staven (“The Sceptre and the Staff”) and the alternate-history dieselpunk spy novel Iskriget (“The Ice War”). When not writing games or fiction, he works as a tech writer in the IT industry.

Elin Holmerin has been running the publisher Undrentide since 2011. Its main focus lies on Swedish fantasy, urban fantasy, horror, science fiction, and hybrids between genres – everything strange and fantastical. Furthermore, Elin has written four books. The publishing company is housed in Katerineholm near Stockholm, where Elin lives with her husband and their two sons. She works as a teacher for English and Swedish, and runs the publishing house half-day.

Nene Ormes published her first fantasy novel Udda Verklighet in 2010; the sequel Särskild followed two years later. Both are urban fantasies taking place in the Malmö region. When Nene’s not writing, she works as a bookseller at Science Fiction Bokhandeln in Malmö and raves especially about steampunk. She held lecture about steampunk at the Göteborg Book Fair, to librarians, and during congresses, all within her diabolic plan to turn everybody into steampunks. You can follow Nene on twitter.

Steven Savile Steven Savile, author

Newcastle-born Steven Savile emigrated to Sweden in 1997. Steven won the International Media Writer’s Award for Primeval: Shadow of the Jaguar, the Lifeboat to the Stars Award for his novel Tau Ceti written with Kevin J. Anderson, and the Writers of the Future Award. He has been runner-up for the British Fantasy Award twice. His books include sf novels and thrillers (London Macabre, Silver, Viral), and tie-in novels for popular franchises including Stargate and Primeval ,Warhammer, Slaine, Space 1889, Doctor Who and Torchwood.

Swedish writer Karin Tidbeck lives and works in Malmö, Sweden, and has published prose and poetry in Swedish since 2002. Some of her works, Weird Tales, Tor.com, Lightspeed Magazine and the anthologies Steampunk Revolution and The Time-Travelers Almanac, have been translated into English. Her short story collection Jagannath won the Crawford Memorial Award in 2013 and was shortlisted for the Tiptree Award and World Fantasy Award. One of the stories, “Augusta Prima”, won the SF & Fantasy Translation Award. When not writing, Karin does freelance work as a creative writing teacher, manuscript coach and translator. And when not doing that, she geeks out on things like forteana, surrealism, games (from board- to video- to roleplaying- to LARP), subversive cross-stitching and folklore.
