About the LARP
The LARP game is set in 1914, just before the First World War. It centers around the presentation of a perpetual motion machine that will establish Sweden as a new superpower. These events are coloured and complicated by the existence of other stakeholders who for various reasons wish to appropriate the invention and the drawings.
The prototype will be unveiled in the presence of the Swedish royal family and with guests from the Russian court. Ottoman diplomats and austere Prussian agents attempt to influence the course of events, while the event is complicated by wily spiritualists, outraged suffragettes, revolution hungry Russian Bolsheviks and Anarchists who all have converged in Gävle to promote their interests. In the background, a world war is in the offing, with the major European powers as stakeholders, and if something goes wrong in Gävle, it can launch a conflict of unprecedented scale!
Select areas in the museum will be reserved for the LARP, as well as some waggons on a steamengine we will make a trip with during the festival, but participants are permitted to play freely between the acts as part of the festival if they so choose. However, participants will have every opportunity to participate fully in the rest of the festival activities between the acts.
Participants are encouraged to play real historical persons if they so wish (August Strindberg, Harriet Bosse, Prince William and Moina Mathers are all examples of predefined roles just waiting to be filled!). Several different factions where suggested characters will belong will be available, but unbound roles are also desirable and participants with ideas of their own are welcome to propound characters themselves.
Curious? Here can you read the two first LARP mood settings (“Strindberg’s The Son of a Servant” and “Vestigia Nulla Retrorsum“).
Welcome!
