Harassment policy

The Steampunk Festival strives to provide a fun, friendly and harassment free festival experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, religion, ethnicity, or selection of apparel (including the choice not to dress up). We encourage an open and generous interpretation of steampunk, and we do not tolerate harassment of festival participants in any form.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or programme items, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Members of the festival who have been asked to stop harassing behavior are expected to comply with this immediately.

Exhibitors at the market, vendors, and similar persons, and volunteers, staff and employees are also covered by this harassment policy.

If a festival participant engages in harassing behaviour, the festival organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including alerting the perpetrator or rejecting them from the festival without a refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is harassed, or have other concerns, please contact one of the festival staff immediately. It is always possible to reach the festival staff through our information booth. Responsible festival staff can also be recognized by the special burgundy sash across the shoulder.

Festival staff will be happy to help participants contact security personnel or local law enforcement, escort the person who needs it, or otherwise help those who are experiencing harassment to feel safe during the entire festival. All festival participants are important to us!
